Learn to Swim

Swimming WA conducts Learn to Swim classes at Chisholm Catholic College in Beford. Lessons run year round in addition to Holiday Programs in April, October and January.

The Swimming WA Learn to Swim school provides a variety of programs to suit all abilities from beginners to competitive swimmers. The program caters for children aged three years and over and encourages learning in a safe and friendly environment and promotes water safety and confidence.

The Chisholm College pool is an indoor 25m pool which is heated to 26C all year round making it an ideal learning environment. Classes are conducted by qualified teachers and are kept small to ensure a friendly and welcoming environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm not sure what level my child should be in?

Swimming WA offer free learn to swim assessments to determine the most suitable level for your child to enrol into. To book in for an assessment please call the Swimming WA Swim School Coordinator Natalie van de Klashorst on 6143 4505

How do I re-enrol for swimming lessons?

A re-enrolment form will be emailed and available at the pool two to three weeks prior to the conclusion of the term. Simply complete and return the re-enrolment form to Swimming WA staff. We will endeavour to keep you in the same class day and time each term, however if you wish to make any changes to your enrolment please speak to the Swim School Coordinator to discuss your options. Currently enrolled students will be given preference for class times and days over new students each term.

How can I pay for the swimming lessons?

Credit card payment can be taken over the phone or in person at the pool. Alternatively, EFTPOS payment is available at the pool.

Please note that bookings are not confirmed until full payment has been reiceved. All fees must be paid in full prior to the commencement of the term.

Other payment arrangements can be made by speaking to the Swim School Coordinator

What if I miss a lesson?

No refunds will be given for classes missed during the program. Make up classes are not available for any classes missed during the program.

Swimming WA will use discretion in exceptional circumstances. Credits may be given for lessons missed during the program where a medical certificate is produced. Refunds may be given where a student is withdrawing for the remainder of the program for medical reasons.

Any requests must be submitted in writing. All refunds and credits granted will incur a $12.00 administration fee.

What do I need to bring to swimming lessons?

Bathers - We recommend that the bathers are chlorine resistant and should be rinsed under cool running water after each wear. If your child is still toilet training, then they are required to wear a water proof nappy, this is to ensure a high standard of hygiene is maintained at the pool.

Goggles - Goggles help children see underwater and prevent eye irritation. To help your child get used to wearing goggles get them to try then out in the bath or shower at home first.

Dry clothes – All swimmers are encouraged to make use of the showers and changing facilities at the pool, and leave the pool in warm clothes with their hair dry or protected with a hat or beanie. This will help prevent swimmers from getting sick especially in the cooler months.

Swim cap – Swimming WA will provide all students with swim caps. Whilst use of these is not compulsory, we encourage swimmers who have long hair to wear them to help keep the hair off their face.

Flippers - Squad swimmers are encouraged to bring flippers (fins) to every lesson. Please make sure your fins are clearly labelled.

Drink bottle - Squad swimmers should bring a plastic drink bottle filled with water. It is good practice to ensure you consume fluids throughout the lesson.
